BEAT
A large group with atypical instrumentation and an explosive character, the Grand Ensemble Koa offers a music that mixes jazz & rock, pop & contemporary music, electric & acoustic, improvisation & writing. In its latest creation, "BEAT", the Montpellier-based jazz ensemble follows in the footsteps of Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg and William Burroughs, three major poets of the beat generation. In this third album, the 8 virtuosos set to music the texts of these non-conformist poets, carried by the luminous voice of Caroline Sentis.
Gratitude III
Gratitude is a French-Belgian power-trio formed in 2010. After two albums - released on the label El Negocito, and very well received - the band has just released an unreleased digital live album in November 2017 on the label AJMIlive and its third opus in self-production on April 20, 2018: Gratitude III.
Peemaï
Peemaï is a music without borders in which hypnotic rhythms and haunting melodies are joyfully mixed with re-invented traditional songs. A unique and generous musical set, which the musicians share with a jovial complicity, a communicative energy carried by a powerful groove and improvisations both sensitive and virtuoso.
Ahîmsa
The Sanskrit word "Ahîmsa" designates in the religions of India the non-violence and even the absence of any intention to harm. It is this concept and the different emotions that compose it (Kindness, Benevolence, Forgiveness...) that guide the new creation of the Great Ensemble Koa. Its members have sought their inspiration in Indian culture and in their encounters with contemporary musical figures such as Steve Coleman, Aka Moon, Magik Malik...
Alive
Their second album "Alive" is a live recording of new songs alternating between different dynamics and moods; sometimes intense and energetic with grooves and polyrhythms, sometimes more fragile and lyrical, like a ballad full of feelings and emotions. The music, the power of the trio, often in the hands of Jeroen Van Herzeele gives an energy of letting go, not very conceptual or rigid with a touch of Led Zeppelin present. And of course the spirit of Coltrane is never far away.
Gratitude
Gratitude's self-titled debut album was released in 2012 on the "El Ne- gocito" label. This album consists of compositions by Jeroen Van Herzeele, Louis Favre and Alfred Vilayleck as well as improvisations.
Koa Roi
Unusual melodies, complex rhythms, collective improvisations and lame grooves intermingle... A sound universe inspired by jazz and improvised music, with accents of rock, noise, funk, sometimes even electro.
